What sets Bedford School apart

Three things this school does exceptionally well.

01

A Level with real immersion

Students pick four A Levels to start, an Independent Project, critical thinking from Year 9 and community service. Sixth Formers can also take leadership training with Ivy House and an Enterprise and Entrepreneurship qualification.

02

Exceptional outcomes

In 2026, 88% of Medicine applicants secured a place in a university of their choise, and in 2025 it was 100% (9 pupils). Six students went to Oxford or Cambridge. Students stand out at interview thanks to genuine research, including the Snowdrop DNA project with the University of Bristol, hospital work experience and undergraduate lectures by video link.

03

Pathways in sport, science and adventure

Golfers train at Woburn with a PGA professional, and Northampton Saints professionals co-coach rugby. There are partnerships with Northamptonshire CCC and the Light Blue Clinic (rowing). On site there is an observatory with a full-time astronomer, a planetarium, a wind tunnel and a flight simulator used by the CCF.
