FAQ

The questions everyone asks first.

What is Amerigo Global Start (AGS)?

AGS is Amerigo's online learning program, giving students access to 200+ accredited U.S. high school and university dual-credit courses — including AP, Honors, and college-prep classes — fully online, from anywhere in the world.

Can my child earn a real, accredited U.S. diploma online?

Yes. The diploma is awarded by Providence Country Day School (PCD), a college-prep school with over 100 years of history — the same diploma issued to on-campus students, with no distinction for online study.

What's the difference between the AGS pathways?

The Diploma Program leads to a full, accredited U.S. high school diploma. DE University Pathway blends select PCD credits with UMass Global dual-credit courses for the fastest, most affordable route to university. Individual Online Courses let students take single classes (AP, Honors, or dual- credit) to strengthen their profile without pursuing a full diploma.

Can students earn college credit while still in high school?

Yes. Dual-credit courses are offered through University of Massachusetts Global (UMass Global), a WSCUC-accredited institution, so students earn high school and university credit at the same time. Up to 15 dual-credit courses are available, worth up to 45 transferable college credits.

Is an online diploma recognized by universities?

Yes. Universities evaluate the accrediting body and transcript, not whether coursework was completed online or on campus. AP and dual-credit courses further strengthen a student's application.

What are the graduation requirements for the Diploma Program?

Students need a minimum of 20 high school/university credits, including at least 5 through AGS and/or UMass Global, and must pass every required course with 60% or higher. There is no minimum GPA requirement, and students may enroll up to age 20.

What instructional models are available?

Three options: Assisted Learning (self-paced with teacher support and monitoring), Small Group Live Classes (scheduled sessions with peers), and 1-on-1 Live Classes (individualized instruction). All live sessions are recorded for later review.

How much time does coursework take, and can students move faster?

Most courses run 18 weeks at roughly 5–8 hours per week; motivated students can finish in as little as 9 weeks. Extensions beyond 20 weeks carry a $50 fee, and 22 weeks is the hard maximum.

Are there grade-level requirements for advanced courses?

Honors courses open in Grade 9, AP courses in Grade 10, and UMass Global dual-credit courses in Grade 10 (Grade 11+ recommended). All advanced enrollment is also subject to academic readiness and school approval.

Will dual-credit courses automatically transfer to a student's future university?

Credit transfer is decided by the receiving university after admission and varies by major and institution, so it can't be guaranteed in advance. As an example, completing all 15 UMass Global dual-credit courses could save a student up to 1.5 years and $65,000–$104,000 at UMass Amherst.

Can students retake courses or improve a grade?

Yes. Students can retake a failed course, a C or D grade, or resubmit assignments scored below 80% with teacher approval. Retaken courses show as "RC" on the transcript and are not counted toward GPA.

How do I get official transcripts, and are there fees?

Transcripts are requested through the online platform. A standard non-graduation transcript costs $25, with added fees depending on the delivery method. Unofficial transcripts are available for students to view and download at any time through the Student homepage on the learning platform. Recommendation letters from instructors are also available for a $50 fee.
