New! Academics Guide USA
Introducing the Amerigo Academics Guide USA, explaining how students reach top US universities, with parents in the loop.

Amerigo Education has launched the Academics Guide USA, a plain-language guide for parents who want to understand how their child can reach a top US university as an international student. It is the first in a new series of Academics Guides, written for families rather than education experts. Read the Academics Guide USA online.
Choosing a high school in the USA is a big decision, and it can be hard to know what to ask. How do grades work in the US? What are AP and Honors classes? What does "support" really mean in daily life? The guide answers these questions one step at a time, in everyday language.
Its message is simple. Getting into a top university from another country is not about luck, and it is not about one big push in senior year. It is built step by step, from the first semester onward, with someone actually watching the path.
What is inside the Academics Guide USA
The guide explains the whole journey, from the first planning call to university acceptance. These are the main parts.
The support behind the grades
Every US Signature School has an On-Campus International Department. Before a student arrives, the team holds a 1:1 call with the family to plan courses and target a GPA (the US grade average) of 3.2 or higher. Support then covers advanced classes, essays, recommendation letters and applications, and academic English. Families get monthly progress reports through StudyStudyGo, and the team steps in the moment a GPA trend needs attention.
Top 100 Guarantee and Top 50 Track: two clear pathways
The Top 100 Guarantee is the standard pathway. Students need at least two consecutive years at an Amerigo Signature School, a GPA of 3.2 or higher, one AP, IB or Honors course, a TOEFL score of 85 and a diploma from the same school. If they meet these requirements and receive no top 100 offer, Amerigo refunds up to $50,000 in senior-year tuition.
The Top 50 Track is for students aiming even higher. Entry requirements grow with the years enrolled, and exit requirements are tougher: a 4.0 GPA, a TOEFL score of 95, an SAT score of 1450 or more, three or more AP courses and leadership in two activities. It carries no refund guarantee, and we think families should know that from the start.
Joining in Grade 12
Both pathways need at least two years of enrollment, so students who join directly in Grade 12 are not eligible for either pathway. For them, the guide describes one year at a Signature School, leading to a conditional university acceptance and a scholarship.
Courses and English
The guide explains AP, Honors, IB and Dual Enrollment, where students earn real university credit while still in high school. Students can start from B1-level English, because academic English grows alongside their other subjects.
Our partner schools
Every Signature School has its own character. The guide introduces them one by one, so families can find the right fit for their child.
Class of 2026: results, not promises
These are outcomes from students who followed the model through to graduation. Among eligible students who applied, 99% were accepted by a top 100 US university and 71% by a top 50 university. At our California campuses, 98% of students received a University of California acceptance.
The guide explains what these numbers mean and who they include, so parents can judge them for themselves.
Thank you
The guide was created with the knowledge and care of our Amerigo staff members Lauren Raia, Academic Director, and David Napier, COO and President. Thank you both for helping us turn a complex topic into something every parent can understand.
