Alibek – a senior from Kazakhstan studying at Bishop Montgomery High School – has been accepted to numerous top universities, including University of California – Davis (#28), University of California – San Diego (#28), Worcester Polytechnic University (#92) and Loyola Marymount University(#93).

“It was useful to have someone to discuss issues with in the [university] application process in case of uncertainty,” Alibek said about Amerigo’s assistance in his university applications. “Ms. Jilian [his on-campus Amerigo University Guidance Advisor] helped me with my application process, helped me find safety schools and prepared me for interviews with colleges.”

In addition to his academic course load, Alibek is a member of the Bishop Montgomery’s Varsity Soccer Team, Robotics Team, Soccer Club, Badminton Club and Current Events Club. He’s also the Dorm Council President and helps out with the on-campus recycling program.

Alibek is deeply appreciative of his time at Bishop Montgomery and the Amerigo residential campus.

“Amerigo feels like a place where I can be myself,” he said.“It does a great job of taking care of us.”

About his school, he added, “My favorite part about [Bishop Montgomery] is that it has a very friendly environment where everyone is willing to help one another and stand up for each other.”

Alibek has valuable advice for international students interested in attending an Amerigo school.

“I suggest being active and seizing every opportunity you have tin front of you, because if you wait for something to come to you, it will never actually come,” he said. “You have to be constantly improving and searching for new opportunities.”
